Battery storage engineered for lower costs and greater resilience

Mutant is a battery engineering and services company providing battery and energy storage solutions to accelerate the global transition to renewable energy.
We engineer and deliver battery storage designed to reduce electricity costs, support critical operations during outages, or both. We analyze site loads and utility tariffs, size the system, source equipment, and coordinate installation and commissioning through our EPC partners.
Why work with us
Customers want lower energy costs, greater resilience, or both. We design the project around those priorities.
- Battery experts on your side
- Our team includes battery scientists and engineers with decades of experience in lithium-ion cells, packs and plant engineering. That expertise is what we add to every project: we know what to ask a manufacturer, what to check in a specification, and what goes wrong on site.
- Independent recommendations
- We carry no inventory and are not tied to any manufacturer, brand or chemistry. The design follows the site’s load and rate structure, not what someone needs to sell. At one site the answer is five battery cabinets; at another it is solar alone, with no battery at all.
- One accountable party
- We quote an installed, commissioned system. Our engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) partner carries out the build under the contract, and we manage the suppliers, logistics and paperwork around it. Your staff stay on their own work, and you deal with one team from the first site review to a system in service.
Formulating a recommendation
We analyze the customer’s energy requirements and power bill. We look at the subtle details that don’t appear on a datasheet and which change the answer.
- Tariff limits
- Some tariffs stop paying for demand reduction above a set level, or claw back credits past it. That can set the right system size, so a bigger battery is not always a better one.
- Program obligations
- Some demand response programs require a site to perform for the full event, not just the window they pay for. We read the obligation before we count the revenue.
- Incentive budgets
- Rebate programs can have small annual budgets that open on a fixed date and go first-come. We check what is actually available, and when, before it goes into the numbers.
- Sourcing to the requirement
- When a supplier cannot provide what a project needs, we find another source rather than shrink the project to fit what is on offer.
- Backup requirements
- Backup power requires a system configured for outage operation. We assess which loads must stay running, how much power they need, and for how long. Reserving energy for outages can limit what is available for bill savings, so we size the system and plan its operation to balance those priorities.
We can show the analysis behind every recommendation we make.
Social commitment
Our planet is undergoing profound transformation – environmentally, technologically, and socially. At this pivotal moment, we choose to believe humanity is collectively awakening to new possibilities. With a clear sense of purpose, we move beyond orthodox models, embracing innovative and, at times, unconventional paradigms. Our ambition is to conduct business in a forward-thinking, principled manner – one reflecting a deeper commitment to both people and the planet.
We are inspired by the potential to establish a society rooted in a decentralized independent energy infrastructure and harmony with a revitalized Earth. Each of us has an essential role to play in this unfolding process. We are Mutant – and this is our commitment.
